The Texas Mile, held biannually at the Chase Field Industrial and Airport Complex in Beeville, Texas, stands as a thrilling showcase of high-speed racing. During this event, participants from various regions take on the straight-line, one-mile racing challenge, each striving to achieve the highest speed within this defined distance. The diverse array of vehicles on display, ranging from modified cars to high-performance machines, adds an extra layer of excitement to the mile-long competition. Enthusiasts gather to witness the impressive displays of speed and performance, making the Texas Mile a must-attend event for those passionate about the world of high-speed racing.

In 2003, responding to the need for stricter measures against highway racing, Texas legislation enacted stringent laws seizing the opportunity to provide a legal outlet for speed enthusiasts, Jay and Shannon Matus, owners of The Texas Mile,envisioned a safe, well-organized, and enjoyable environmentwhere individuals could push their cars and motorcycles to highspeeds. In October 2003, they introduced Top Speed Racing onairportrunways, marking a groundbreaking initiative in themotorsports industry.

 

Since its inception, The Texas Mile has attracted participantsfrom around the globe who converge on an airport runway torace their vehicles, striving to achieve top speeds in a mile anda half-mile before safely shutting down. The inaugural event in2003 featured 35 participants, and over the years, it hasevolved into the world's premier Top Speed Racing Event,boasting over 200 participants. Drawing the attention ofseveral thousand spectators attending in person and an onlineaudience through live streaming, The Texas Mile has firmlyestablished itself as a marquee event in the world of high-speed racing.
